The anniversary celebration was held recently at the NTA Headquarters in Monrovia and brought together passengers, Managing Director Hon. Edmund F. Forh, Deputy Managing Directors, members of the Authority's senior management team, and invited guests to commemorate one year of successful operations.

Since the official launch of the southeastern route on July 25, 2025, the NTA has provided dependable transportation services to Grand Gedeh, River Gee, and Maryland Counties, improving connectivity and making travel easier for thousands of Liberians. Prior to the introduction of the service, residents and travelers faced significant transportation challenges, particularly during the rainy season, with many forced to travel through neighboring Côte d'Ivoire because of poor road conditions.

Over the past twelve months, the Authority successfully completed 169 trips, transporting 12,461 passengers, excluding children under the age of five. Through the NTA's Free Rider Policy, an additional 983 children benefited from free transportation services.

Operational statistics show that Maryland County recorded the highest number of passengers with 8,107 travelers, followed by River Gee County with 3,221 passengers, while Grand Gedeh County accounted for 1,133 passengers.

Speaking during the celebration, Managing Director Hon. Edmund F. Forh thanked passengers for their continued confidence in the National Transit Authority and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to improving public transportation services throughout Liberia.

"Today marks one year since we launched our passenger transport service to Liberia's Southeast. We sincerely appreciate our passengers for their trust and continued support. Your confidence inspires us to strengthen and expand quality public transportation for all Liberians."

The Managing Director encouraged passengers to report concerns, complaints, or any inappropriate conduct by staff through the NTA's official customer service channels, emphasizing that public feedback remains essential to improving service delivery and strengthening accountability.

Looking ahead, Hon. Forh announced plans to expand passenger transport services to Sinoe, Grand Kru, and River Cess Counties once road conditions permit safe and regular operations.

He also disclosed that the Authority is preparing to introduce affordable cargo transportation services to support businesses by transporting goods, agricultural products, and construction materials across Liberia.

"Our planned cargo transport service will provide businesses with a dependable and affordable means of moving goods across the country. This initiative will help reduce transportation costs, support commerce, and contribute to lowering the prices of goods for consumers."

Passengers attending the anniversary celebration expressed appreciation to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. and the National Transit Authority for making travel to southeastern Liberia more affordable and convenient.

Many passengers noted that before the NTA introduced the service, transportation costs ranged between L$30,000 and L$40,000 for a trip to the Southeast. Today, passengers can travel to Maryland County for L$5,500, significantly reducing the financial burden on families and businesses.

The celebration marks another important achievement in the National Transit Authority's strategic vision to expand reliable public transportation throughout Liberia. As the Authority continues to grow its network and improve service delivery, it remains committed to connecting communities, supporting economic development, and providing safe, affordable, and accessible transportation for all Liberians.
