Monrovia, Liberia – On Friday, December 6, 2024, the National Transit Authority (NTA) successfully concluded a two-day workshop aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency. Themed “Enhancing Service Excellence and Operational Efficiency,” the workshop provided specialized training for customer service representatives, conductors, compliance and transit patrol officers, ticketing staff, and heavy-duty machine operators. It was held at the NTA canteen from Thursday, December 5, to Friday, December 6, 2024.
The training was designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to improve customer interactions, promote road safety, and streamline ticketing processes. It is part of the NTA’s broader initiative to foster professional growth and institutional efficiency.
Speaking during the opening session on Thursday, the Managing Director of the NTA, Hon. Edmund F. Forh, reaffirmed the management's dedication to empowering employees through targeted capacity-building initiatives.
“It is our responsibility as management to ensure that every single employee is equipped to perform their duties effectively,” Hon. Forh stated. “If we are to hold you accountable for your roles, we must first provide you with the necessary tools and training to excel.”
Hon. Forh commended the internal staff of the NTA who facilitated the workshop, emphasizing that the current management is exploring opportunities to expand employee capacity through professional institutions shortly.
In her closing remarks, the NTA’s Human Resources Manager, Mrs. Klubo K. Varmah, praised the workshop participants for their active engagement and encouraged them to prioritize their participation in future training sessions.
“The management is committed to ensuring that a significant number of employees are capacitated over the next five years,” she said. “These periodic training sessions are essential for the growth of our workforce and the improvement of our service delivery standards.”
Mrs. Varmah extended gratitude to the facilitators, acknowledging their critical role in delivering valuable knowledge and practical insights during the workshop.
This workshop underscores the NTA’s strategic focus on fostering a culture of learning and professional development. By leveraging internal expertise and planning collaborations with professional institutions, the NTA aims to create a well-rounded workforce capable of meeting the growing demands of Liberia’s transit system.
With increasing pressure to enhance public transportation services, such initiatives highlight the importance of equipping employees with modern skills to adapt to challenges and seize opportunities in a rapidly evolving industry. The NTA’s dedication to improving customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and road safety is a testament to its commitment to national development.
As the NTA continues to roll out its capacity-building agenda, it is expected that similar workshops will be held regularly, ensuring that every employee is well-prepared to contribute to the organization's vision of a safe, reliable, and efficient public transit system for all Liberians.
